Wabanaki Technologies Project & Wabanaki Studies

Essential Questions:

How does the study of past cultures help me to understand what is important to me?
What is my World View?
How do culture and environment interact?
What skills do I need to succeed in school and in my life?  What do I need to work on?
How can I communicate my understandings and my insights effectively?
How can I structure my thinking better?

The Literacy 8 curriculum is rooted in subject-area reading, writing and communication skills. In order to engage students in the learning process, units are designed to anticipate, support and enhance content-area curricula, especially in Science and Social Studies. Please see the Syllabus for an overview of this year's Literacy study.

Each 75 minute class period contains at least three activities: silent reading; a grammar/usage skills lesson; and time to work on the current project, which may be a writing exercise, a presentation, research, note-taking, a technology skill, focused content reading, or discussion. Generally, on-going projects contain each of these elements. After direct instruction and guided practice, students will work on different tasks and at different paces.

The links to the left provide an overview of specific units, resources, and classwork materials.
