- CoVis - The Learning Through Collaborative Visualization (CoVis) Project - dedicated to improve the teaching of science in the Middle and High Schools, this project - uses a variety of digital courseware resources, including a multimedia notebook, to create a collaborative study community of researchers, students, scientists and educators - the site itself has some technical issues - interested teachers should contact the project directly

Chat is planned, as is chat with scientists - the overarching concept (futuristic save the world...) will be difficult, confusing or not interesting to many students, however, so guide them

Switcheroo Zoo - elementary and lower Middle level art and science classes will love this site - uses Flash morphing to create a "new" animal from parts (an old activity) - then adds sound resource information and links to "beefaroo" up the project (that's the new activity)
Image Processing - expanded access to and lessons for inquiry-based image processing in the classroom are new as a result of NCLB. Resources include:
BugScope - online access to a state-of-the-art microscope - registered (free) classrooms provide the bugs and the lesson/experiment, then schedule a time to view it all online
- ImageJ - for all platforms, free software, lessons, plug-ins - a java-driven image analysis program - memory intensive, so not for all machines or all laptops
- NIH Image - for Macs in Classic mode - similar to ImageJ - links to many lessons
- Scion - for PC only - similar to NIH
- Center for Image Processing in Education - download free and purchase complete lessons for using the above, including images - something for every level of science instruction and much math as well
- Brian Aivazian's Science Visualization Home Page - lists resources for visualization study available online - for high school geoscience study
