Quick Talks for Teacher, Student and Parent Groups
Least Tern offers to schools and parent organization the following Quick Talks on topics in technology and education. Each talk is designed as a 45 minute presentation/talk followed by a question and discussion period. Internet access and presentation capability is desirable but not absolutely necessary. Access to laptop or desktop computers is necessary as noted in descriptions. The fee for all Quick Talks is $75 plus transportation and housing, if necessary. If you do not see the talk you need, we will prepare one to meet your goals. Please contact Least Tern for more information or to schedule a Quick Talk.

The Internet Child - What's a Parent to Do? / What's a School to Do? - Explanation of Middle School or High School surfing behaviors and fads, concerns that need to be addressed, and strategies for dealing with these concerns. Talk can be for either a parent or a faculty group (or mixed).
The Laptop MBA - Practical strategies for managing an effective laptop class - teacher audience should come with laptops.
A New Take on Professional Development for Technology Integration - Least Tern proposes a new strategy for professional development. This talk for administrators, technology coordinators and teachers will both explain and model that strategy. Participants should come with laptops.
Make a Webpage in Your Word Processing Program - A short and sweet lesson for creating a web page in either Word or AppleWorks. Lesson includes an explanation of images and guidelines for posting completed pages to First Class. Least Tern will host pages for up to one month. Teachers should have access to a computer and either one of the applications.
Laptop Diseases - A lighter look at what is going to go wrong in your laptop classroom - with antidotes
Data on the Web - The web is a huge reservoir of data for the k-12 classroom. This talk will present a short look at ways to mine these resources for classroom discovery.
Copyright in the School - For parents, students and teachers, what is Fair Use and what is illegal under current copyright law.
